President’s Message

A message from our 2025-2026 President, Catherine Bredemeyer

Since its founding in 1948, the Junior League of Odessa has been committed to serving the community through the inspired efforts of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers.

The League’s extensive training and education program cultivates a lifetime of civic service, preparing members to serve as advocates of change in Odessa and beyond. League members are united by their interest in “Building A Better Community,” demonstrated by countless volunteer hours, extensive service on nonprofit boards and coalitions and a commitment to continue leading positive change for the Odessa community.

The Junior League of Odessa is proud to be approaching its 77th year of serving the Odessa community with critical volunteer support and direct financial contributions to numerous community projects, through community assistance grants, innovative community collaborations and community outreach events.

I invite you to explore our website to learn more about the impact that Junior League members have on the Odessa community, as well as the impact the Junior League of Odessa has on its own members through its training and education efforts.

I encourage you to visit the Community (add link) section of our website to learn about the services the League offers to the Community in both trained volunteers and financial resources, as well as past and current projects. For example, area nonprofits can learn about the opportunities to apply for Community Assistance Funds during one of our Spring or Fall grant cycles. This is one of the ways that we have been able to support community initiatives in addition to our projects and annual fundraisers.

The Junior League of Odessa is currently partnered with Communities in Schools for our Pink Pantry project. An initiative that provides hygiene products to schools in Ector Country Independent School District. We are delighted to add a second project and community partnership this year with Meals on Wheels Odessa. This is our inaugural year of Silver Pantry, which provides much needed products to the clients served by Meals on Wheels Odessa.

These community partnerships and projects would not be possible without the support and generosity of the Odessa community who have supported our fundraising efforts at Merry Marketplace and Carriage Rides over the years. We are thankful and humbled to have such wonderful individuals and businesses to partner with in our fundraising efforts.

The mission of the Junior League has never been more vital to our city. The Junior League of Odessa continues to be an organization comprised of change-makers, problem-solvers and those willing to take the first to step forward to face challenges. The reflection of our hard work can be seen throughout the landscape of our great city.

Thank you for your interest in The Junior League of Odessa! We are incredibly thankful for your support!

With gratitude,

Catherine T. Bredemeyer
